Project 4- Photo Montage

During the month of November, SNAP benefits have been cancelled by the government. I decided to start with a photo montage of my fridge while we still have groceries. I then plan on continuing this project through the month as our fridge gets more and more empty. It is important to me to show a visual project for this to show people how SNAP benefits are vital to having access to basic needs like food. This is really important to me as it affects me personally, but also because I know that there are children, single mothers, single fathers, disabled, and elderly that rely on SNAP. I am lucky enough to have help from friends and family during this time, but many people don't have that kind of support. If even with outside support, I am struggling, imagine how badly those who do not have any support will be struggling. Art has always been on the frontlines for political protest, and my plan for my photo montage series is no different. As a photographer and someone who has the time to have a voice for those who are ignored or discarded I feel it is my duty to stand up in any way I can.
