  Artist Statement:  This photo essay series showcases behind the scenes of a tasting event at La Rue's Patisserie on main street in Aberdeen. I really enjoyed being able to show the process and the end result. I enjoy cooking and always have, and I love going to events where people dress up and have a fancy theme. I was able to document both the cooking and teamwork aspect required to pull off a large event, as well as the end result of the food and the people enjoying it. I documented from start to finish of this event and process, but I have my best pictures posted above. A lot of work goes into preparing and plating food, and this event was actually extremely fast paced behind the scenes. I was able to capture the main chef's expressions during this process which was really important to my process.    During the month of November, SNAP benefits have been cancelled by the government. I decided to start with a photo montage of my fridge while we still have groceries. I then plan on continuing this project through the month as our fridge gets more and more empty. It is important to me to show a visual project for this to show people how SNAP benefits are vital to having access to basic needs like food. This is really important to me as it affects me personally, but also because I know that there are children, single mothers, single fathers, disabled, and elderly that rely on SNAP. I am lucky enough to have help from friends and family during this time, but many people don't have that kind of support. If even with outside support, I am struggling, imagine how badly those who do not have any support will be struggling.
